SPOLIARIUM by ERASERHEADS

First, lets talk about the song title as it is commonly misspelled as“spolarium”. Spoliarium is a Latin word referring to the basement of the Roman Colosseum where the fallen and dying gladiators are dumped and devoid of their worldly possessions. At the center of Luna’s painting are fallen gladiators being dragged by Roman soldiers(National Museum of the Philippines, March 8,2020).

Meanwhile, in the year 1997 the popular Filipino band called Eraserheads released a song Spoliaruim on their album Sticker Happy, the song is written by Ely Buendia. The inspiration of the song is the Spoliaruim painting of Juan Luna but the song is being linked with the alleged Pepsi Paloma rape case. The song has an abstract that will real make people think of what are the song really talking about. With the length of more than five minutes it is worth listening for.
